Brunswick East had a dream to create a food growing garden to provide fresh produce to use in their fantastic Australian inspired brunches. As the original dining space didn’t receive enough sunlight we proposed to create an edible greenroof on their large covered bin store.

After reinforcing the bin store structure and waterproofing the roof, the garden was created using our edible greenroof system designed to maximise production whilst minimising loading. The system utilisers recycled plastic pallets as growing beds filled with a lightweight soilless growing medium. The plants are irrigated through an automatic 14mm drip pipe system.

To reduce costs to the client, Urban Organic do not maintain the garden but instead hold monthly training sessions with chefs and kitchen staff to teach them how to manage the garden themselves.
